Senior Controls & Automation Engineering Specialist

We're seeking an experienced Controls & Automation Engineering Specialist to lead PLC and SCADA system development across our multi-state manufacturing facilities. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic system development, offering an exciting opportunity to shape our automation future.

Position Overview

As our Controls & Automation Specialist, you'll serve as a technical leader across our facilities in Ohio, Minnesota, and Illinois, focusing on web handling, coating, and slitting process automation.

Essential Responsibilities

• Design, program, and optimize PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
• Lead automation initiatives for web handling and coating processes (hot melt, solvent, emulsion, UV curing)
• Develop and implement control system integration solutions for motors, sensors, and actuators
• Provide technical leadership and troubleshooting support across multiple facilities
• Build and enhance internal controls engineering capabilities
• Manage and coordinate with external automation contractors when needed

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
• 10+ years of controls engineering experience
• Advanced expertise in PLC programming and HMI/SCADA development
• 5+ years of web handling machinery experience
• Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD)
• Strong project management and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Six Sigma or PMP certification
• Spanish language proficiency
• Experience with coating processes and UV curing systems
